The installation of precast concrete elements for a vehicle scale is an important step in establishing a precise and reliable weighing system. To ensure optimal function of the scale, the precast concrete elements must be carefully and correctly installed.
For the installation of the concrete vehicle scale, the pit is first excavated, which is usually carried out by the client’s contractor. Depending on the design, the client prepares a gravel bed for the installation of the scales or strip foundations.
We create the necessary technical drawings and provide them to the client. These differ depending on the vehicle scale type and the desired options.
Once the construction work has been completed, we deliver the precast concrete elements and install them within a few hours. Depending on the size and type of the vehicle scale, we arrive at the construction site with our heavy transporters, a large mobile crane, and escort vehicles. The crane is then set up and ballasted there.
During the installation process, the precast concrete elements must be carefully aligned to guarantee even load distribution and precise measurement. It is important to ensure uniform grouting of the precast elements to avoid deformations and measurement errors.
Before installation, we check the correct heights and make adjustments if necessary. The crane lifts the first pit section onto the prepared gravel bed or the strip foundations cast by the client. Subsequently, the second pit section is inserted and precisely aligned with the first section. The two sections are connected by turnbuckles and permanently sealed with elastic sealant. Now, the two bridge sections are lifted and, to protect the load cells in the rough construction site environment, are temporarily placed on wooden blocks in the scale pit. After 2 hours, the installation work is completed, and the crane is dismantled.
The client then has the option to connect the cable conduits and drainage connections, as well as backfill the excavated pit. We recommend paving the access roads to the scale with concrete to protect the concrete body of the scale. Paved surfaces can settle over time, creating an approach edge that eventually leads to damage to the vehicle scale.
After completion of the construction work, we arrange a separate appointment to finalize the vehicle scale. This includes the installation of the load cells, connection of the weighing electronics, as well as the adjustment, conformity assessment, commissioning, and instruction for the vehicle scale or truck scale.
If an operating terminal or other accessories for automating the vehicle scale have been ordered in addition, these are usually installed and commissioned in a single appointment. This helps to keep time and effort as low as possible.
